Hunger, cold, breakfast

I swear I formulated my "Hunger Games" opinion before reading Stephen King's review of it from a few year's back. But when I read it today, I was mildly pleased to see he agreed with me. Or I agreed with him, I guess.

Here's a link, for those who want to read.

What cracks me up is he agreed with me that the name Katniss Everdeen is ridiculous. Twirly Boggs would have been better, if you asked me.

This is not to say I didn't find (as he did) the book gripping because I did. And I then logged into my library account and reserved copies of the book on CD. There's a long line on all the books (and so many of them in the high schools and junior highs -- all our libraries are linked together -- which are overdue; I imagine pree-teens unable to bring themselves to return the books) so I put in for the audio books in hopes I can rip them to my PC and listen to them later on my iPod. If that doesn't work, I'll just have to wait for the books, along with all the other teenage girls.

And now I have a cold, so my ears are killing me along with the sinuses under my cheekbones. And my throat is still a little sore. And I'm coughing this dry, hacking cough that makes my throat hurt even more.

Off to a fundraiser breakfast tomorrow morning with my bestie. Money goes to paying for "honor flights" for WWII vets to get back to Washington, D.C., to see the memorial. I'll never get there, but I'm glad they'll get a chance. I wish my they had started those flights while my dad was still healthy enough to have gone.
3 What they think.

Thank you for the get well wishes you left on my blog. I wish the same for you.
Love the Hunger Games series! I've got books 2 and 3 on my Kindle and can lend them to you if you want. Let me know.
Hope you have fun at the fundraiser!

I hope your cold gets better soon. See if they have a large print copy of Hunger Games- often those have a shorter wait list than the regular ones, if you don't mind the lp. I have to say, I haven't read any of them. Although, part of that is I don't have that much extra time for reading. I'll have to try them when I have time though, since you enjoy them so much, and see how I like them.

Jeanie, I hope you feel better soon. Having ear and sinus pain sucks. I wanted to take my Dad on an honor flight, but he said no. I was disappointed that I couldn't sponsor him. I'll have to check if there is a fundraiser in my area.If my dad won't go, maybe the money will help someone else to go.
